About the project
Hairbiddy is a salon app that connects hairstylists with clients, making it easier to manage appointments, showcase services, and communicate seamlessly. The app is designed for two types of users: hairstylists and customers. Hairstylists can create profiles to display their portfolio, services, and prices, as well as manage their appointments. On the customer side, users can browse stylist profiles, book appointments, and use features like video/audio calls and chatting to communicate directly with stylists.
Our task was to redesign the app to enhance user experience and improve functionality for both parties.
Requirement
The client wanted a complete redesign of the Hairbiddy app to create a more modern and user-friendly interface. The key goals were to improve usability for both hairstylists and customers, streamline the booking and appointment management processes, and optimize communication features like video/audio calls and chatting. Additionally, the client wanted to ensure the app was visually appealing while maintaining smooth performance on both iOS and Android devices.

Problems
The original Hairbiddy app had a cluttered design and lacked a smooth user flow, leading to frustration for both hairstylists and customers. For hairstylists, managing appointments, updating portfolios, and setting prices was cumbersome. On the customer side, browsing through stylist profiles and booking appointments was not intuitive, and communication features like video and audio calls were unreliable. These issues led to lower engagement and frequent app abandonment.
Challenges
Dual User Base: Designing an interface that caters to both hairstylists and customers was challenging, as each group had different needs and workflows. We needed to balance usability for both sides while maintaining consistency in the overall app design.
Complex Scheduling Flow: Creating an intuitive design for the hairstylists’ appointment management, including setting availability and pricing, required careful attention to detail to ensure simplicity without sacrificing functionality.
Maintaining Visual Hierarchy: With multiple features like profiles, portfolios, and appointments on the stylist side, and browsing, booking, and communication on the customer side, maintaining a clear visual hierarchy was a challenge. Ensuring that the most important elements were easily accessible and prominent was key.
Enhancing User Engagement: A major challenge was designing an interface that kept users engaged, reducing abandonment rates. We focused on making the app visually appealing and easy to navigate, encouraging users to explore the features and complete their interactions smoothly.
Our solutions
To address these issues, we redesigned the app with a clean, modern interface that enhanced usability for both hairstylists and customers. We simplified the layout and user flow, making it easier for hairstylists to manage their profiles, set prices, and organize appointments. For customers, we revamped the booking system to be more intuitive, with a streamlined process for browsing stylist profiles and scheduling services. Additionally, we optimized the video/audio call and chat features to provide smooth, real-time communication between users. By improving navigation and performance, we delivered an app that met the needs of both hairstylists and clients while offering a polished and professional user experience.
